ImplantationsBob Verschueren (BE)

It is said that the birds of the region erected a Tower of Babel in Annecy. Perhaps it is this impressive city anchored at the top of a curiously upturned tree in the Gardens of Europe?
Implantations is a city for birds, a sort of utopian “tree-building” made up of a multitude of nesting boxes. An absurd poetic vision because birds do not group together like human beings. This installation echoes the regular migrations of birds but also those of men. The search for somewhere else, bigger, more promising, has always been a real source of cultural enrichment; but it is also the source of great fears, often irrational. Through his work, Bob Verschueren seeks to express the richness that non-aggressive implementation offers.

After practicing painting, Bob Verschueren began his “wind paintings” in 1978, natural pigments spread in the wind across the landscape. From this decisive turning point came his interest in nature and plants in particular. Since then, he has carried out more than 350 installations in Europe and elsewhere. He also investigates other fields such as sound, engraving, photography, etc. A wasteland, a forest, an exhibition space… are so many workshops for him. Bob Verschueren is a member of the Royal Academy of Belgium in the Arts class.
